There have been much recent interest in distributed computational statistics. Interestingly, related questions were studied in theoretical economics since the 1960s from a different perspective. In particular it considers settings where different parts of the data are held by different agents (companies or agencies) who are unable or may not be interested in revealing the raw data that they hold....
