INFO FOR PRE-MAJORS

WHAT IS AN ADVISOR CODE?
See http://registrar.berkeley.edu/advisorcode.html. Advisor Codes ARE NOT codes that allow students to enroll in specific courses; they only allow access to Tele-BEARS. You might be mistaking ACs for a Class Entry Code (CECs), which we generally do not use for Stat courses.

WHO NEEDS AN ADVISOR CODE?

  • Declared Statistics Majors (as listed in BearFacts)
  • Pre-majors who are undeclared and will have Senior standing after this semester will likely require an Advisor Code to access Tele-BEARS. Check your Tele-BEARS to see if an Advisor Code is required. If yes, see instructions for Pre-majors.
  • Declared double/triple Stat majors will receive part of their AC from Statistics and the other part(s) from their other major department(s). Check with your other major(s) to find out how to obtain their portion of your AC.

PRE-MAJORS
The Statistics Department will NOT release Advisor Codes to intended majors and do not have the authority to remove registration blocks.

Pre-majors with registration blocks and/or those who require an Advisor Code to access Tele-BEARS should fill out the Conditions to Declare Form and either schedule a 10min appointment or come to unrestricted drop-in hours HERE. Do not come during Special Drop-Ins reserved for Declared Majors. Fill out your name, SID, contact info, and the program plan to the best of your ability (beginning with current semester through expected graduation semester) before seeing an advisor. DO NOT BRING IN A BLANK FORM.

After completing a Conditions to Declare with the Statistics Staff Advisor, pre-majors are expected to complete a Conditions to Declare Form with an alternative major advisor and either obtain the Advisor Code from the Alternative Major Advisor (if the advisor will release it), or obtain the Advisor Code from a College of Letters & Science Advisor. Schedule an appointment with a College of Letters and Science Advisor after preparing the Conditions to Declare Form with both the Statistics Major Advisor and an Alternative Major Advisor in order to remove your academic block. L&S Advising info can be found here: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/ to schedule an appointment.
