Student Spotlight: Anjana Manjunath, MA Statistics, Class of 2023

We are excited to introduce Anjana Manjunath, an accomplished statistician with a passion for making a positive impact in environmental and ocean data studies.

Anjana began her academic journey at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she majored in mathematics. It was during her time there that she discovered a love for statistics while conducting various research particularly in the field of computer vision.

In pursuit of a more profound theoretical grasp of statistics, Anjana embarked on a journey to attain a Master of Arts in Statistics at University of California, Berkeley. Anjana’s dedication to mastering the fundamental principles of the discipline has been instrumental in her successful completion of the program this fall semester.

Currently, Anjana is immersed in a significant project at Berkeley Lab focusing on "Sub-seasonal wildfire burned area prediction with machine learning." Her work not only showcases her technical prowess but also highlights her commitment to leveraging data for positive change.

Looking ahead, Anjana is eager to contribute her expertise to research positions in statistical modeling and machine learning.. Her goal is to drive innovation and insight in addressing pressing climate-related challenges.
