Stat Scholars
The Stat Scholars Program consists of academic support and a community for students in Statistics courses. The program is intended to help students thrive in their courses and achieve success in their statistical journey, including their post-Berkeley careers.
As a Stat Scholar, you will benefit from:
- Dedicated academic support: Participate in weekly help sessions led by a GSI and tutor. These provide additional learning opportunities beyond regular class resources. The GSI will also hold a special office hour for the students in the scholars program.
- A close-knit community: Engage with fellow Scholars in a collaborative environment designed to foster connections and peer learning. Since you will be meeting with the other scholars in your course every week, you will be able to make deeper connections with them, building a support system that will be very useful as you navigate the statistics curriculum. Studying with other students in the class is often more productive.
- Access to advising: Statistics undergraduate advisors will be available to meet with Scholars who are interested in exploring the Statistics major or minor. Scholars will also be invited to events hosted by the advisors, which may include events with faculty, graduate students, and alumni.
- Scholars-only events: Take part in future workshops and events curated for Stat Scholars to advance your skills and network within the discipline.
For Fall 2025, students enrolled and waitlisted for Stat 20 or Stat 134 are encouraged to apply to the Stat Scholars Program and become foundational members of this emerging community. Join us to strengthen your skills, connect with mentors, and make Stat Scholars a vibrant part of your Berkeley story.
