Brileigh is interested in statistical applications, specifically in methodological development, to real-world problems and questions. She is currently working on problems related to biological applications, such as neuroscience and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Prior to joining the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley, she attended Missouri University of Science and Technology, where she earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Applied Mathematics. Her Master's thesis, titled "Analyzing Sleep Architecture and Brain State Transitions via Hidden Markov Models on fMRI Data," benchmarked the ability of Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) to detect latent sleep states using fMRI data alone.
