Algebraic Statistics Seminar: Implicitization and Tropical Geometry
Sep 7, 2011, 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM | 939 Evans Hall | Happening As Scheduled
Damien Mondragon, UC Berkeley
In this talk we'll cover the basic algebraic and tropical geometry necessary for algebraic statistics.
We'll discuss algebraic statistical models and see how to use algebraic techniques to implicitize
them. Finally if there's time we'll give a brief look at how tropical geometry can be used to attack
problems in parametric inference.
