CDI Seminar: Exoplanets, Galactic Orbits, and Multiplicity
Feb 3, 2011, 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM | 1011 Evans Hall | Happening As Scheduled
Jim Berger, Duke University, Department of Statistics
Some recent work on discovery of exoplanets using Bayesian model selection methods will be discussed, including a new algorithm for computing marginal likelihoods of models. A problem involving the orbital composition of galaxies will also be considered; this becomes a statistical inverse problem with high-dimensional constraints. Finally, if time permits, some thoughts on the Bayesian approach...
