I will introduce the concepts arising in the dynamical/Cauchy problem aspects of the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. Using tools developed for the Cauchy problem, I will explain how to construct (a version of) the Gibbs measure for the NLS on the torus. I will rely on some very classical harmonic analysis and results of Lebowitz, Rose, Speer and Bourgain.
