Bray Wins Instructional Technology and Innovation Micro Grant
Associate Teaching Professor Andrew Bray has won a 2024 Instructional Technology and Innovation Micro Grant from the Office of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education for the project “Gradebook: A tool for easy, flexible, and accurate course grades.” The Instructional Technology and Innovation Micro Grant program aims to aid faculty in all disciplines in creating new programs or courses and significantly revising their existing courses. Bray’s project was awarded roughly $34,000, and he will give a brief report at the end of the grant year at a meeting of the Council of College Deans and a special campus event showcasing all of the projects that the Instructional Technology and Innovation Micro Grant Program has supported.
"We're thrilled to be able to share with the broader university community tools built by the Statistics Department,” said Bray. “There is a wealth of experience in the instructors and GSIs at Cal and we hope to channel that to improve software to help us serve our students."
Administered by the Division of Undergraduate Education, various course development grants are available. They aim to enhance the quality of on-campus instruction, expand the campus’ capacity to meet student demand, and strengthen UC Berkeley’s instructional resilience in the face of emerging disruptions. Beyond the Instructional Technology and Innovation Micro Grant, course development funds are awarded through the Berkeley Collegium Grants Program and the Presidential Chair Fellows Program.
Bray’s research interests include statistical computing, data privacy, and applications of statistical models to environmental science.
