Laura Slakey, the MSO of the Statistics Department, was selected to receive an Excellence in Management 2015-2016 award from the Berkeley Staff Assembly committee. Congratulations Laura! Here is the opening paragraph from the staff's nomination packet:

We, the staff of the Statistics Department, enthusiastically submit this letter to nominate our MSO, Laura Slakey, for the 2016 Excellence in Management Award. Laura is deserving of the award because of the respect and compassion that she extends to the department's members and her astute leadership. Her distinguishing quality lies in her level of commitment in making staff feel included and valued. She is savvy and practical, exudes warmth, sets a goal of creating a service-oriented atmosphere, and inspires others to reach it by example.
