La Shana Porlaris, Director of Student Services, was honored with an Excellence in Management Award at a campus virtual ceremony this afternoon.

This year's Excellence in Management Award theme was "Leading in Difficult Times." The theme highlights leadership which demonstrates and encourages resilience, inclusiveness, compassion, adaptiveness, work-life balance, well-being/morale.  The award is particularly meaningful because nominations must originate from staff directly supervised by the nominee, and include supporting signatures from at least one-half of these staff. Here is a highlight from the award ceremony:

La Shana has shown her staff empathy during this difficult time and has been very flexible when it comes to her staff balancing work with parenting, family health issues, and the overall anxiety of living through a pandemic. La Shana makes sure to communicate, educate and encourage her team to utilize policies related to Covid, families, and managing a positive work-life balance.
