Postdoc Soufiane Hayou, named the first ever recipient of the Gradient AI Research Fellowship
Gradient has announced Statistics Postdoc Soufiane Hayou as the first-ever recipient of the Gradient AI Research Fellowship. Professors Peter Bartlett and Bin Yu advise Hayou.
Hayou is a Researcher at Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing. He is currently on leave from his Peng Tsu Ann Assistant Professorship in mathematics at the National University of Singapore.
Hayou's current research focuses on the theory and practice of scaling neural networks, an area of study that promises to redefine the capabilities and efficiency of AI systems. He obtained his PhD in Statistics & Machine learning at the University of Oxford where he was advised by Arnaud Doucet, and Judith Rousseau. Hayou was also a member of the OxCSML Group. Before starting my PhD, he graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in France with a major in Applied Mathematics and Financial Engineering.
Gradient AI was founded in 2012 within one of the world's largest actuarial consulting firms. In 2018, Gradient AI was spun out as an independent company to provide complete underwriting and claims management solutions for group health, property & casualty, and workers' compensation insurers.
